Boston Bruins Foundation to Present Check to GEF

The Bluefin Blowout started as a spontaneous idea to combine two of Gloucester Fisherman’s favorite past-times, fishing and having fun while fishing.

Since it’s inception nearly five years ago, Founders Drew Hale and Rob Bouley have escalated this event into a fundraising opportunity for not only the local businesses throughout Cape Ann, but for the citizens of the City of Gloucester, Massachusetts. These two individuals have been reaching out to trusted business organizations for sponsorships and the Boston Bruins Foundation to help support the costs associated with hosting this annual fishing tournament.

The Bluefin Blowout would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the Boston Bruins Foundation for their support and generous donation of Boston Bruins memorabilia to the Bluefin Blowout silent auction. Bob Sweeney’s active participation in rallying the crowd to contribute to this worthwhile cause is greatly appreciated!

We would also like to give the much-deserved recognition to the sponsors who make this event a possibility! A special thanks to Lyon Waugh Auto Group. Their dedication to the Bluefin Blowout stems not only from their continuous involvement in the City of Gloucester but also from its Managing Partner, Warren Waugh, whose passion for fishing is like many of those who participate in the tournament – borderline addictive!

Additional thanks to WEEI and WAAF radio stations whose continued exposure and promotion of the event helped contribute to this year’s success!

Finally, a well-earned shoutout to the Captains and their crew! If not for their participation in the tournament – there would be not tournament. Our participants really stepped up this year and helped the Boston Bruins Foundation raise $8000.00 for the Gloucester Education Foundation.
